About Us

The United Way system is a very simple process designed to unite individual donations so that maximum value is achieved, multiple charities are supported and many communities are strengthened.

United Way NZ (UWNZ) is an independent, non-religious, non-political, volunteer based organisation that encourages generosity by brokering resources (money, time and skills) between individuals, businesses and the community.

United Way NZ’s operations are funded through corporate partnerships, service fees, investment interest, donations and grants.

To keep the organisation’s overheads at a minimum, approximately 140 volunteers nationwide willingly donate their time and skills to help with UWNZ’s Governance and Committees.

Our Process

United Way NZ provides donors (whether individuals or Corporate) with a unique way to support a wide variety of key local charities with a single donation.
Through the combined effort of a nationally coordinated fundraising programme, UWNZ maximizes the funding received to support approximately 130 community partners throughout New Zealand.
Organizations receiving grants from United Way NZ are visited by UWNZ volunteers and are carefully screened through our comprehensive allocation process.

We are NZ’s Local Charity – focused on Helping the Helpers.

Live United

United Way NZ seeks to advance the Common Good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. We also encourage supporters to help bring about change by being prepared to Live United.
Live United means Giving (donating to UWNZ),
Advocating (championing the cause) and/or Volunteering (lending your brain/muscle).
United Way NZ recruits people and organizations different by nature but United by mission, who will bring passion, expertise and the resources needed to help get things done.

Together we will make a difference.
